' A long march to glory ' - English mounted
archer
Agincourt campaign 1415
This figure shows a mounted archer on the long
march from Harfleur to Agincourt. Most of Henry's army were mounted.
His horse carries most of the man's gear.
Blankets, water bottle, sacks of forage for man and beast, an arrow bag
and maul all hang from his mount.
His bow is carried in a canvas cover to
protect it from the elements and is slung across his back.
Over his padded jack this archer wears the
English livery of the cross of Saint George. This had become the sign of
an English soldier.
